Publishing a maintenance schedule

How to publish a schedule revision, why it cannot be changed, and why publishing changes no equipment

Read About maintenance schedules first.

Publishing changes no equipment

Publishing turns the draft into a revision in force. A published revision cannot change.

Publishing creates no task on equipment and moves no date. Equipment already on an older revision stays there.

Enrolment is the step that puts equipment on a revision. See Putting equipment on a programme.

Publish a revision

Open the draft

Open Maintenance programme. Open the schedule.

Check the tasks

Read the tasks on the draft.

Add a note if it helps

The note says why the revision exists.

Publish

Press Publish revision 1.

You cannot publish a schedule with no tasks. Add tasks first.

Revision notes

The note beside Publish says why the revision exists.

Use it for the reason somebody will ask about later, such as a manufacturer change or your own rule change.

The note is optional. A first revision often needs no note.

The note freezes with the revision. You cannot change it after publishing.

Read an older revision

Open the schedule. Use Reading in the schedule header to choose a published revision.

The revision selector states when each revision was in force. It also states the task count and the equipment count.

The task list shows the rules in the selected revision. Each task states what a later revision changed.

A published revision is read only because it cannot change. Revise the schedule to write different rules.

The equipment list shows only the equipment that follows the selected revision. If you read an older revision, press Apply this revision to review a move to the revision in force.

You cannot undo publishing

There is no unpublish button.

If you publish a mistake, revise the schedule, correct the draft and publish again. The wrong revision stays in the record.

Revise a schedule

Open the schedule

Open the schedule and press Revise this schedule.

Change the draft

Make the changes the new revision needs.

Publish again

Press Publish revision 2.

The draft starts as a copy of the revision in force. A schedule has one draft at a time.

What this does not do

KitNDocs does not approve a revision before publishing. Anybody in your organisation can publish.

Publishing does not move enrolled equipment to the new revision. Use Apply this revision for that.

A person who has left your organisation may not be named on the schedule. The record still holds who made the change.
