About maintenance schedules

What programme, schedule, revision and enrolment mean, and what KitNDocs does not decide

The words

A maintenance programme is everything your operation holds about maintenance. You have one programme.

A maintenance schedule is a set of tasks inside that programme. You can have several schedules.

A revision is one version of a schedule. After you publish it, it does not change.

Enrolment puts equipment on a schedule. Enrolled equipment gets the tasks from the schedule revision.

A schedule does not say which equipment belongs on it. Any equipment can go on any schedule, one piece at a time.

What KitNDocs does not decide

KitNDocs does not know which maintenance rules apply to you.

It does not read regulations, manufacturer manuals or governing body notices.

It does not approve a schedule or tell you that a schedule is enough.

It records what you write. You decide whether the rules are right for your operation.

From schedule to equipment

Writing and publishing a schedule change no equipment.

Enrolment is the step that creates tasks on equipment.

The usual order is:

Equipment stays on the revision you enrolled it in until you apply a newer one.

Equipment left on an older revision is called drift. Drift is allowed. The schedule shows it so you can decide what to do.
