Writing a maintenance schedule

How to write a schedule, what the description is for, why the category decides nothing, and why saving changes no equipment

Read About maintenance schedules first.

Write a schedule

Open the form

Open Maintenance programme and press Write a schedule.

Name the schedule

Type a title. Type a description, or leave it empty.

Choose where the enrol screen starts

Choose an equipment category, or leave the field on All your equipment.

Save it

Press Write the schedule.

The category is optional. A schedule with no category works the same as one with a category.

A schedule does not say which equipment belongs on it. Any equipment can go on any schedule.

The category you choose does one thing. It decides which equipment the enrol screen shows first. You can clear that filter on the enrol screen and see all your equipment.

Choosing a parent category also shows the categories under it.

Description

Use the description to say whose rules the schedule answers to.

This can be a manufacturer manual, a regulation, a governing body notice, your own practice, or more than one of these.

Write it in your own words. KitNDocs never writes it for you.

There is no field for a country or regulator.

Change a schedule

  1. Open Maintenance programme.
  2. Open the schedule.
  3. Change the title, description or category.
  4. Press Save changes.

A change saves all three fields at once.

KitNDocs records each change, but no screen shows that record yet.

Delete a schedule

You cannot delete a schedule yet.

If you wrote one by mistake, change its title to say so.

What a schedule does not do

Saving a schedule creates no tasks and moves no dates.

Choosing a category does not enrol equipment. It does not stop you from enrolling equipment of another category either.

Tasks reach equipment only through enrolment, after publishing. See Putting equipment on a programme.

A one-off task for one piece of equipment still belongs on that equipment. See Changing a task.

The title and description are not part of a revision. You can change them after publishing. Published tasks do not change.
